web site is free, right? So why do I need to join? "
MetroPets
is
a fledgling organization. Founded in 1999, it has been
established with volunteers' personal funds and hundreds
of donated hours of work. However, despite this generosity,
there are real world costs associated with providing
a free web site and free technical services to the shelters
and animal rescue groups. We
won't be able to continue without your support.
Does
MetroPets really help the homeless pets?
Absolutely!
We get regular feedback from rescue groups whose animals
have been adopted as a result of having been seen on
our site or found through our search engine. We also
believe strongly in supporting the groups who already
exist through technical assistance and through promoting
their adoption events and their special pets in need
on our site. We are always looking for new ways to help
promote the local shelters and rescue groups.

do I get out of supporting Metropets?"
MetroPets wants its supporters to feel that they are
part of a vital and swiftly growing movement to exploit
technology to the fullest to get more animals adopted,
see fewer and fewer healthy and loving animals euthanized,
and include more and more members of the community in
this process. To that end, MetroPets organizes regular
events and informative lectures, sends out a quarterly
e-newsletter with local pet news, provides a members-only
listserv, and offers supporters the opportunity to feature
their beloved pets online.

to Business and Organizations"
We list all businesses and organizations on
our web site at no cost, because we believe the web
site is there to serve the public. However, we do encourage
those who benefit from being on our site to lend us
a helping hand by joining us a member. Joining as a
business member is beneficial to you! It gives you more
exposure on our web site; we list you on our front page
for a month after you join, and you are also listed
on our business supporters
page, and have an icon next to your name on the
site, which draws more attention to your listing.
